Edwin Omar Figueroa Alvarez 

Mr. Figueroa's practice area includes income taxes, industrial tax incentives, non profit exemption, hospital tax exemption, personal and real property taxes, municipal license taxes, employee benefits and renewable energy incentives. He also has experience in tax litigation before the Puerto Rico courts, as well as in administrative proceedings before state and municipal taxing authorities, including but not limited to deficiency procedures and tax audits. Mr. Figueroa also provides assistance to entities commencing operations in Puerto Rico in tax related affairs.

Mr. Figueroa is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and is a registered Notary Public. He is also a Certified Public Accountant admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

Mr. Figueroa is a member of the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants and of the Puerto Rico Bar Association. He is also an active member of the CPA/Attorney Committee of the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants. As a member of said committee, Mr. Figueroa has participated as a co-lecturer of a seminar on Recent Tax Cases sponsored by the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Before joining McConnell Valdés, Mr. Figueroa worked as an Associate Attorney for García & Fernández Law Office, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the practice areas of torts, debt-collection, corporate, real estate and as Notary Public. Mr. Figueroa also worked as a Tax Compliance Intern at Ernst & Young, LLP, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
