Hernan Marrero-Caldero
Mr. Marrero-Caldero is an Associate in the Environmental, Energy and Land Use Practice Group. Mr. Marrero-Caldero is also a Professional Engineer admitted to practice in Puerto Rico.
PRACTICE
Mr. Marrero-Caldero's areas of practice include compliance counseling, enforcement, permitting, environmental and land-use aspects in commercial transactions, project and business development as well as civil, contract and administrative law.
In the areas of compliance, enforcement, and permitting, Mr. Marrero-Caldero advises clients with respect to CAA, CWA, NEPA, OSHA, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA, ADA, FFHA, ARRA, among others. With regards to local laws and regulations, he advises clients on the different environmental, land use and infrastructure programs administered by local agencies such as the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, Environmental Quality Board, Solid Waste Management Authority, Permits Management Office, Puerto Rico Planning Board, Puerto Rico Aqueducts and Sewer Authority, Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, Department of Transportation and Public Works, Puerto Rico Highway and Transportation Authority, Department of Health, Puerto Rico Corps of Firefighters and the Department of Agriculture.
Before joining McConnell Valdés in 2008, Mr. Marrero-Caldero served as a judicial law clerk to Hon. Troadio González, Judge of the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals.
Mr. Marrero-Caldero earned a Master of Laws in Environmental Law, cum laude, from Vermont Law School in 2008. He obtained his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Interamerican University of P.R in 2007. He also earned a Mechanical Engineering degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus in 2003.
Mr. Marrero-Caldero is admitted to practice the legal profession in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. He is also admitted by the Puerto Rico Department of State to practice Engineering.
Mr. Marrero-Caldero is a member of the Puerto Rico College of Engineers and Land Surveyors and has been a speaker in numerous seminars sponsored by this entity. In 2011, he was appointed as judge to the Disciplinary Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors of Puerto Rico.
In 2003, Mr. Marrero-Caldero was prized with Merck's Mechanical Engineering Design Award granted to the best mechanical engineering design project related to the manufacturing and pharmaceutical industry.
