Jorge Manuel Obén-Cuadros
Mr. Obén-Cuadros' practice includes corporate tax, tax incentives laws and general income, property, excise and municipal license taxes related to state and federal tax laws. He also works with the qualification, administration, and compliance matters of Puerto Rico and U.S. retirement plans under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Puerto Rico Internal Revenue Code
Throughout law school, he was an editor of the University of Puerto Rico Law Review and the University of Puerto Rico Business Law Journal. He also served as a student clerk to Chief Magistrate Judge Justo Arenas of the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and worked as Professor Demetrio Fernández Quiñones' assistant. Further, he performed extensive research for the Trust Legislation Committee of the "Academia Puertorriqueña de Jurisprudencia y Legislación".
Before joining McConnell Valdés LLC as an Associate, he worked as a law clerk for the Tax Practice Group. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Obén-Cuadros worked as an Audit Staff at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, working with the audit and assurance services of investment companies in the financial services industry.
Mr. Obén-Cuadros is also a Certified Public Accountant admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
