Francisco J. Rodríguez Bernier joined McConnell Valdés as an Associate in October 2008. He is part of the firm's Real Estate and Commercial Financing Practice Group.

Practice Areas

Mr. Rodríguez focuses primarily on preparation and negotiation of agreements for the design and construction of real estate projects, structuring real estate transactions, including selection of entities (corporation, partnership or trust), and structuring the debt and equity components of real estate transactions.

Experience

Before joining McConnell Valdés, Mr. Rodríguez worked as a Senior Director for Oracle Corporation in the Latin America Division directing the Public Sector, Higher Education and Healthcare business, where he started as a Finance Director for the Caribbean Region. He also worked for KPMG in San Juan, Puerto Rico in the Audit Department.

Education

Mr. Rodríguez earned his Juris Doctor from University of Puerto Rico School of Law in May 2008. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras in May 1986.

Admission

Mr. Rodríguez is a Certified Public Accountant, and his admission to practice in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is currently pending.

Memberships

He has been an active member of the Puerto Rico Certified Public Accountants Society, where he has taught various courses on eBusiness Transformation. He is also a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association.

Publications/Public Engagements

As a law student he published in the University of Puerto Rico's Law Review three notes: Conflicts of Law and the Internet, eGovernment and the Law, and An Empirical Study of the Administrative Law in Puerto Rico.

In addition Mr. Rodríguez has been a guest speaker on eBusiness and eGovernment Transformation across Latin America and in the 2007 World Congress of Computer Law in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
