Karem M. Rodríguez García is as an Associate in the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group.

Practice Areas

Mrs. Rodríguez' primary practice area is labor and employment, focusing primarily on general employment law litigation in matters such as unjust dismissal, sexual harassment, and employment discrimination litigation under Title VII, the ADA, the ADEA and applicable local statutes. She also provides consulting for employers in various areas of local and federal labor and employment laws.

Experience

From 2001 to 2008 and before joining McConnell Valdés, Mrs. Rodríguez worked for Schuster & Aguiló LLP, a local firm specializing in various areas of Labor and Employment litigation and consulting. There, she gained valuable experience and actively litigated cases involving complex wage and hour claims, as well as general employment law litigation in matters such as unjust dismissal, sexual harassment, and sex, age, disability and national origin discrimination under local and federal statutes. She was also active in client training sessions in general aspects of employment law, and in developing standards and procedures related to clients' collection, retention and preservation of electronic or otherwise relevant records for litigation purposes or in response to governmental inquiries. Prior to that, Mrs. Rodríguez was a Summer Intern at the National Labor Relations Board during the Summer of 2000. Also during Law School she worked for a local litigation firm, Miguel Miranda Law Firm, where she focused on providing litigation support in varied Civil Litigation matters and Family Law.

Education

Early on, Mrs. Rodríguez identified her interest in the Labor and Employment area and pursued studies at Cornell University's renowned School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She then went on to complete a B.B.A. in Human Resources from the University of Puerto Rico's Business School in May 1998. Thereafter, in May 2001, she earned her Juris Doctor at the same University's School of Law, where she also pursued her interest in the Labor and Employment area, taking a variety of courses geared towards enhancing her already vast knowledge of the related issues.

Admissions

Mrs. Rodríguez is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and all its lower courts, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She is also a licensed Notary Public.

Mrs. Rodríguez is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the American Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Law Section.
