JUSTICE CORRADA CHOOSES MCCONNEL VALDES
TO RETURN TO PRIVATE PRACTICE
San Juan, Puerto Rico - The managing partner of McConnell Valdés, Arturo García Solá, announced that Honorable Baltasar Corrada Del Río returned to the law firm where he had been previously a partner.
"In 1975 Baltasar Corrada left McConnell Valdés to run for the office of Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico in Washington. Today, 30 years later, we celebrate with delight his return home," stated García Solá.
Corrada del Río is known for his distinguished career in government serving Puerto Rico as Resident Commissioner in Washington, Mayor of San Juan, Secretary of State and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
García Solá remarked that: "It is not unusual for McConnell Valdés attorneys to go into politics and government. The participation of our attorneys in the political process is one of the strengths of our Government Relations Practice Group."
"We are proud that, throughout the years, McConnell Valdés has been the professional home of many Puerto Ricans that have distinguished themselves in public service under the government administrations of the two main political parties including, among others, Luis Fortuño, Eduardo Bhatia, Melba Acosta, and Fermín Contreras," added García Solá.
By constitutional mandate, Corrada del Río retired from the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico on April 10, 2005 where he made important contributions to the development of Puerto Rico's legal system, and chose McConnell Valdés to return to the practice of the legal profession.
García Solá expressed great satisfaction with Justice Corrada's decision to return to the firm. "With his return to McConnell Valdés Baltasar Corrada will not only join our Litigation Department but will also strengthen our Government Relations Practice Group. Few attorneys know our legal system and the government like Corrada del Río does," said the managing partner of the firm.
"The success of McConnell Valdés for almost 60 years is the result of the dedication of our attorneys to professional excellence within the framework of the most absolute respect for our juridical system and a firm sense of commitment to the highest principles of personal integrity and professional ethics. Justice Corrada del Río is the embodiment of those institutional values," added García Solá.
Corrada del Río was born in Morovis, Puerto Rico, in 1935 and is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico where he also obtained a Juris Doctor.
