McConnell Valdés once again demonstrated its commitment to the education and training of Puerto Rico's future attorneys. Héctor M. Laffitte and Roberto C. Quiñones-Rivera, Counsel and Vice-Chair, respectively, of our Litigation Practice Group, together with federal court judges Daniel R. Domínguez and Francisco A. Besosa, and Puerto Rico court judges Héctor J. Conty and Ángel Colón, participated as appellate judges in a moot court oral argument at the U.S. District Court in Puerto Rico. Thirty-nine students in the Legal Research, Analysis & Writing course taught by Roberto Abesada, Income Member of our Litigation Practice Group and adjunct professor at Interamerican University, School of Law, submitted appellate briefs regarding unsettled and complex issues of state and federal law, and then presented oral argument on appeal before a three- judge panel.

After the event, the students stated that it had been a remarkable and engaging experience for them, their parents and friends, who experienced real-life appellate advocacy at its best.
