Capital Members of the Firm sponsored students from the Juan Ponce de León public school in the United Nations Model Program (UNMP) Conference held at the University of Puerto Rico Cayey Campus on December 11, 2010. Approximately 200 students, of which 150 were from public schools, attended this conference.
The main goal of the Puerto Rico Division of the United Nations Association of the United States of America is to take the UNMP to public schools around the island so that students become exposed to different topics of interest from international communities, while developing skills in the areas of technology, research, public speaking, writing, negotiation, conflict resolution and values of respect, tolerance, dialogue, teamwork and consensus building - thus empowering them to think globally and act locally to improve the social and economic conditions of their communities.
With this donation, McConnell Valdés contributes to public education by helping students develop skills and values that will be essential in their future and the future of Puerto Rico.
