With over 15 years of experience as a government affairs strategist, and with a principal/senior level network, her experience and relationships facilitate a cascading intelligence enabling businesses to focus on federal, state and local elected officials and other influential stakeholders to meet their government affairs goals.
Her political experience gives her an intimate knowledge of what businesses and elected officials need to achieve public policy goals. Ms. McCarthy’s keen knowledge of Washington, DC and how politics, media and third party organizations intersect with policy-making enhances her ability to help clients navigate the nation’s Capitol.
Besides Washington, DC, Ms. McCarthy also works within the public policy space in Puerto Rico. She has built a network of government and non-governmental organization (NGO) contacts she leverages to help clients on Puerto Rico public policy matters, bringing the creativity and skill set she honed in Washington, DC to the island to help clients navigate within the government.
Prior to starting her consulting business in 2011, she served as the Finance Director of the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) where she raised over $50 million. At the DGA she interacted and built relationships with Governors as well as Fortune 500 companies, and developed an understanding of what each needed to accomplish their policy goals. Prior to joining the DGA, she served as the National Finance Director for New Mexico’s Governor Bill Richardson’s presidential campaign, overseeing an operation that raised over $24 million in 2007.
Her prior experience includes working with Senator Joe Lieberman, Senator Mark Udall, The Clinton Foundation, the New York State Democratic Party, the National Conference of Democratic Mayors, the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association, and the Democratic Leadership Council, among others.
