Her main area of practice is real estate and general corporate matters. She joined McConnell Valdés in 2014 as Law Clerk in the Environmental, Energy & Land Use Group.
While in law school, she participated as Teacher’s Assistant of the Notarial and Litigation Classes, helping professors with exam and assignment corrections and evaluating student performance. She also assisted with legal research on evidence, particularly on the use of objections at trial.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Berríos, who holds a Civil Engineering degree, worked as a Compliance Specialist at the Puerto Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA), conducting annual inspections of PRASA’s waste water treatment plants and water treatment plants to ensure compliance with the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, PRASA’s Civil Consent Order with the Environmental Protection Agency and with other environmental laws and regulations. She also researched new methods and technologies to achieve compliance by WWTPs with EPA parameters and coordinated support team meetings working on solutions.
She worked at the U.S. Forest Service’s International Institute of Tropical Forestry, reviewing forest construction plans and specifications for practicability and compliance with ARRA requirements, amongst other responsibilities. She was also a Civil Engineer Student Intern at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, where she received training in land surveying, and management of National Spatial Reference System (NSRS).
Ms. Berríos has been working towards completing a Masters Degree in Water Resources & Environmental Engineering.
