Helen A. Salichs

Helen A. Salichs joined McConnell Valdés in 1997 and since then has advised major U.S. corporations with respect to compliance with federal laws and regulations governing relations with Cuba and Cuban nationals, including compliance and licensing under the United States Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) economic and trade Cuba sanctions program.

She is an advisor on practice management to McConnell Valdés’s Managing Director and directs the firm’s Pro Bono Program, which offers legal counsel and advice to not-for-profit organizations on non-contentious matters, including corporate governance, labor, real estate, and transactional legal issues.

Prior to joining McConnell Valdés, Helen acquired extensive legal and business experience while working as a Manager and Director of Corporate Relations with Fortune 500 companies such as Anheuser Busch and Time Warner. She also was an associate and counsel with the New York-based firms Gordon Hurwitz, Gaston & Snow, and Muchnick, Golieb & Golieb, gaining experience in general corporate, commercial, and trademark laws and in commercial and securities litigation.

She was also the Assistant Executive Director and Legal Affairs Counsel at the Puerto Rico Conservation Trust, a not-for-profit land trust in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is a former member of the Boards of Directors of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, El Museo del Barrio, and the Institute of Puerto Rican Affairs. She is also a former Advisory Board member of the Mexican Cultural Institute of New York and the Puerto Rico Conservation Trust.
