The McConnell Valdés Pro Bono Program celebrates the 10th anniversary of its continuous contribution to the development and strengthening of the nonprofit sector in Puerto Rico. With more than 10,600 hours in free legal services donated over the past 10 years, equivalent to more than $2 million dollars, approximately 300 not-for-profit organizations in the Island have benefited from the Program.
Social responsibility has always been an essential part of McConnell Valdés’ mission. This commitment to give back to the community led to the establishment of the Pro Bono Program during the Firm’s 60th anniversary. This commitment to give back is also reflected in the fact that seventy-eight percent (78%) of the Firm’s attorneys have contributed time and talent to the Program consistently, and that the Program has shown a 133% increase in pro bono hours worked between 2006 and 2016 .
Ten years after its founding, the Pro Bono Program continues to be the only program of this kind institutionalized in a law firm in Puerto Rico. Today, and in light of the critical times facing Puerto Rico, the Pro Bono Program reaffirms its commitment to continue contributing to the strengthening of not-for-profit organizations in Puerto Rico dedicated to the development of initiatives that promote the well-being of the communities they serve.
