Social Responsibility has always been an essential aspect of our mission. For many years, we have supported initiatives to improve the wellbeing of underserved communities, including in the areas of education, social development, and the arts and culture of Puerto Rico, impacting, directly or indirectly, thousands of Puerto Ricans throughout our 70‐year history.
We are devoted to the provision of quality legal services. Supporting the education of professionals in the field of law in Puerto Rico is an important component of our commitment. To mark the Firm’s 70tjh Anniversary, and as evidence of our commitment to education, in 2016 McV created the McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero Viera Scholarship Program. The scholarship recognizes Antonio Escudero-Viera, a retired capital partner and former Managing Director of the Firm, and Ad Honorem Profesor of the School for over forty‐five years.
The McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero Viera Scholarship Program provides economic assistance to university students pursuing legal studies at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. The Scholarship, which is managed by the Puerto Rico Community Foundation, provides financial assistance to cover the costs of tuition, fees and expenses related to obtaining a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, providing a benefit of up to $5,000 per student per year for qualifying students. Second and third year full time students who demonstrate economic need, academic achievement, leadership and an interest in community service can be considered for the scholarship.
