First McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero-Viera Scholarship Awarded
The McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero-Viera Scholarship Program, created as part of the Firm’s 70th anniversary celebration, awarded its first scholarship to Edwin Mojica Camps, a 3rd year law student from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. Mojica Camps graduated from the Petra Mercado Bougart High School in Humacao and received a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, with honors, from the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao Campus.
Named in honor of Antonio Escudero-Viera, retired capital partner and former Managing Director of the Firm who has been an Ad Honorem Professor of the University of Puerto Rico School of Law for the past forty-five years, our Scholarship Program is aimed at providing financial aid to full time students of the University of Puerto Rico School of Law who meet the established eligibility criteria. It is managed by the Puerto Rico Community Foundation and provides up to $5,000 per year to each selected student. Information and guidelines are accessible here.
For the past 70 years, McConnell Valdés has supported initiatives to improve the wellbeing of underserved communities. Education in Puerto Rico is a key part of this. The creation of the McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero-Viera Scholarship Program provides continuity to the commitment with the community that has prevailed during all these years of service. The scholarship thus contributes to the continuous development of the legal profession and the economic and social transformation of Puerto Rico.
