Advancing a vision of social justice and community service
The McConnell Valdés Foundation, created to commemorate our 75th anniversary, reaffirms our longstanding dedication to the well-being of our cherished community. This nonprofit entity is tasked with a mission to advance social justice and community service initiatives, supporting communities and people in need by overseeing opportunities, programs, and initiatives in the core areas of access to justice, the arts, education, health, conservation, and community development.
Some of the initiatives already set in motion and which reflect the Foundation’s mission are our Pro Bono Program, which epitomizes our abiding sense of social responsibility, and the McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero Viera Scholarship. Established in 2006, the McConnell Valdés Pro Bono Program was the first such institutional program in Puerto Rico. Since then, it has provided free legal services to nonprofits of limited means that serve the communities in which we live and work. The McConnell Valdés/Antonio Escudero Viera Scholarship, established in 2016 to mark our 70 years of leadership, has provided $85,000 in financial aid to seventeen University of Puerto Rico School of Law students since its inception.
The McConnell Valdés Foundation, simply put, will always look ahead – in order to lead the way to an ever brighter future for Puerto Rico.
