DNER Reschedules Public Hearings and Extends Comment Period for the Proposed Amendments to the Maritime Terrestrial Zone Regulation

Further to our Environmental Alert of August 26, 2015, the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources has  rescheduled two public hearings and has extended the comment period for the proposed amendments  to Regulation No. 4860 of December 29, 1992, known as the Regulation for the Use, Surveillance, Conservation and Administration of the Territorial Waters, the Areas Submerged Under These and the Maritime Terrestrial Zone (“the Proposed Amendments”), as a result of cancellations due to Tropical Storm Erika’s trajectory near Puerto Rico.  The new schedule for the public hearings in the municipalities of Mayaguez and Luquillo is:

  • September 29, 2015 at Mayaguez, Puerto Rico
  • September 30, 2015 at Luquillo, Puerto Rico

Furthermore, the new deadline to submit written comments to the Proposed Amendments is Thursday, October 15, 2015.

Public hearings were conducted in San Juan and Ponce before the cancellations.
