Beatriz Martínez-Godás

Associate, Corporate and Real Estate, Hospitality & Finance Practice Groups

Beatriz Martínez-Godás' main area of practice includes general corporate matters, real estate law, government affairs and public policy.

Beatriz started her career at McV as an Associate in the Labor & Employment Practice Group, where she gained experience in employment-related civil litigation, administrative proceedings, contracts, and torts, providing counseling in topics such as discrimination, harassment, and retaliation via the revision and preparation of company policies and employee manuals. She also conducted training seminars and worked on internal corporate investigations for reorganizations, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, and confidentiality agreements.

While in law school, Beatriz was named Editor and Senior Editor for the University of Puerto Rico Law Review. She spent a semester working as a Notary Intern for the Property Registry of the Puerto Rico Department of Justice and clerked for the University of Puerto Rico Immigration Legal Aid Clinic. Beatriz worked at McV as a Summer Associate in 2021 and 2022.

Prior to attending law school, Beatriz directly supported the Vice President of an executive search firm in Manhattan, managing high-profile clients in finance, advertising, tech, and consulting. She also interned for various non-profits, ultimately focusing on national fundraising and outreach programs for organizations such as the Global Coalition on Aging (GCOA) and the New York Women’s Foundation.

She transitioned from the non-profit space to political organizing after being selected for a Fellowship at a mayoral re-election campaign for the City of New York, after which she participated in launching a political strategy firm dedicated to grassroots, female-candidate campaigns, and was later recruited to serve on a Presidential primary campaign.

Beatriz also interned at the Puerto Rico Senate in the Office of the Senate President as part of a Public Finance and Government Performance task force, where she assisted in creating a new budget review process focused on cost-benefit analysis.
