The McV logo stands for involvement with worthy causes that improve the quality of life in Puerto Rico. We proudly support numerous worthy education, charitable, community service and cultural organizations and initiatives that improve the quality of life in Puerto Rico. So much so, that it is part of the fabric of the firm.
Our attorneys and staff support United Way of Puerto Rico via direct donation, and McConnell Valdés has been recognized among the top 20 investors on the Island. United Way has also recognized McV for reaching its campaign goal and was named Committee of the Year.
Many of our attorneys participate as Board Members in many nonprofit institutions such as the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, the Corporación para la Conservación del Estuario de la Bahia de San Juan, Fundación Banco Popular, Fundación Hospital Pediátrico, the Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico, and Pro-Techos. Throughout our history we have proudly contributed more than $3.5 million to support fundraising efforts benefiting many of these institutions.
Throughout our history we have allocated more than $3.5 million to support leading cultural, educational and health-related nonprofit organizations.
Our commitment to service goes further. In 2018, to help mitigate the catastrophic effects of hurricanes Irma and Maria, we established the McV Disaster Relief Fund to support nonprofit organizations with initiatives and programs in communities in dire need of basic human services. The McV Disaster Relief Fund raised $90,000 for relief efforts to affected communities and which granted $60,000 to seven nonprofit organizations. The Fund also helped affected communities after the passage of Hurricane Fiona in 2022, donating close to $30,000.
In 2023 we started the Jeans and Sneakers for a Cause, another initiative to help raise funds for nonprofit organizations in Puerto Rico. Through this initiative, our employees and attorneys make a contribution that benefits a previously selected organization. With this contribution they have the privilege of coming dressed in jeans and sneakers every last Friday of the month. The funds raised by this initiative are then matched by the firm. So far we have raised close to $54,000 for 40 nonprofits.
We will continue driving positive impact in Puerto Rico and making a difference through our work and contributions. That is who we are and what sets us apart from the rest.
