Puerto Rico Trademark Office Extends Expiration of All Trademark Deadlines

 | ⏱ 1 minute read

As part of the measures taken by the government of Puerto Rico to control the effects and spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout the Island, Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced issued Executive Order 2020-023 to close most government and private sector offices. The closing order includes the Puerto Rico Trademark Office of the Department of State.

Most trademark transactions are now filed electronically, however, with the “purpose of supporting government efforts against COVID-19 and in the interest that juridical and natural persons are able to comply with the deadlines provided in the Puerto Rico Trademarks Act of 2009, as amended, the Puerto Rico Department of State issued Circular Letter 2020-01, extending all trademark terms, deadlines and due dates until April 15, 2020.
