Kristina Rodríguez-Evans' primary areas of practice include financial institution regulation, mergers and acquisitions, commercial financing and cross-border securities matters.
She advises financial institutions on regulatory matters, including the licensing of international financial and banking entities and money services businesses, as well as the preparation and procurement of administrative determinations and regulatory rulings. She has extensive experience in cross-border securities matters and has participated in the expansion of a financial institution’s presence in more than thirty countries.
Within her commercial lending practice, Kristina advises both lenders and borrowers on the structuring, negotiation, documentation, and closing of secured and unsecured financing transactions. Notably, she assisted in the multimillion-dollar financing for the purchase and sale of Puerto Rico real estate as part of a multibillion-dollar acquisition across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
In addition to her corporate practice, she assists clients in the structuring and development of hotel, resort and residential projects within the tourism and hospitality industries. Kristina has assisted various clients in obtaining tax concession decrees under Act 60-2019 as well as Strategic Project designations with the Puerto Rico Planning Board.
Kristina’s cross-industry experience enables her to effectively assist clients in analyzing complex corporate, compliance, and transactional structures. She takes a client-focused, solutions-driven approach, offering practical and strategic guidance tailored to intricate matters.
Before joining McConnell Valdés, she worked at the Community Development Legal Aid Clinic of the University of Puerto Rico School of Law; the Clinic for Asylum, Refugee & Emigrant Services (CARES) at the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law; the House of Commons of the United Kingdom; the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce; and the Office of the Secretary of State of the Puerto Rico Department of State.
In 2020 and 2021, she worked at McConnell Valdés as a Summer Associate.
